How Do We Pray MORE

I have gotten pretty good about asking for miraculous things from God.  I'm absolutely convinced nothing is too big for God.  My convictions rarely seem minor therefore compelling me to pray wholeheartedly and often when convicted.

What about those times when I'm not feeling overwhelmed with conviction or trouble?  Do I become stagnant in prayer?  I believe I do.  There are certain things that have lasting conviction in my heart that are prayed for regularly regardless of what is taking place in my life.  But I'm realizing that sometimes that may be only time in prayer.

This came to me today at 3:30 in the afternoon.  My kids are all napping and I began some intense prayer.  Afterward, I thanked God for that precious quiet time with Him that was so rejuvenating.  Then I realized, that was the first time today I really came to God with my whole heart.  So how do we keep this from happening?  When things are well and good in our days, how do we, who are weak in the flesh keep from forgetting to call on Him?

This is what I think will help me and maybe you too.  We know nothing is too big for God but let us not forget that nothing is too small either.  Philippians 4:6-7  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Today, I've decided to focus on praying for small things.  There are many more small things in my day than big things so I've been praying and giving thanks for getting dishes done, getting kids down for naps, this time allotment to expand on my thoughts and further meditate on God's Word, praying for my meat to be thawed in time for dinner and to have a good meat loaf.  Not usually a problem but I'm not choosing only problems to pray for today and hopefully this is a new way of life for me.  I desire a never ending conversation with my God but admit that it ends way too often.

Ephesians 6:18  praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Hope we can be blessed with a stronger more mature relationship in Christ by simply praying more :)
